ANACON SYSTEMS INTRODUCES 
NEW DigiDriveTM P3 - HAND-HELD PROGRAMMER
FOR SINGLE-PHASE AC INDUCTION MOTORS

New, Portable Programmer for DigiDrive II family Provides OEM Design Engineers Portable Calibration and Set-Up for their Variable Speed Control Applications

Chicago, Illinois  - March 5, 2001   Anacon Systems announced here today at the National Design & Engineering (NDES) Show its DigiDriveTM P3, the Portable Parameter Programmer (PPP = P3). A new programming tool for adjusting and calibrating the DigiDriveTM family of motor controllers, operating from 115 Volt (SO16 Series) and 230 Volt (SO17 Series) line voltages, which control the speed of one-tenth to one horsepower single-phase AC induction motors. This portable programmer compliments the DigiDriveTM - DashDriveTM configuration kit that allows monitoring and control of the drive functional parameters through s PC interface. The P3 will provide original equipment manufacturers' (OEM) design engineers with a portable tool that will enable functional adjustments in remote locations. Expanding on Anacon's existing DigiDriveTM - DashDriveTM programming tools, this portable programmer provides much of the DashDrive functionality while remaining hand-held.

The DigiDriveTM P3 connects to the DigiDrive II unit through the RS232 jack. It allows for the measurement of the speed and the calibration of the settings. These can then be updated and programmed into the unit by making the adjustments on the P3 and pressing the "set" key.

Functions that can be measured and set:

  • Minimum and Maximum frequency (speed) set point.
  • Deceleration and Acceleration rate
  • Motor current protection (trip) limit
  • Boost mode for starting torque
  • Choose "best curve" for desire V/f performance
  • Vary speed in "real time" through the speed knob adjustment

"The DigiDriveTM P3 will provide the design engineer a flexible tool to configure our controls," said Jonathan Guy, Director of Engineering for Anacon Systems. "In addition to the popular DashDrive TM for the computer savvy developer, the P3 was designed for development sites where PC's are hard to connect to. With many of the user applications in traditional blower, fan and pumping equipment, requiring PC configuration tools nearby can often be a hindrance to the product development. Additionally, installers of our product during beta-site evaluations will have a useful tool to allow remote location adjustments."
