ANACON SYSTEMS INTRODUCES
New, Network Interface DigiDrive II units Provides OEM Design Engineers Remote Monitoring and Control for Variable Speed, Single-Phase AC Motors Atlanta, Georgia January 29, 2001 - Anacon Systems announced here today at the Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration (AHR) Conference its DigiDrive II - NETWORK INTERFACE family of new low-power motor controllers, operating from 115 Volt (SO16 Series) and 230 Volt (SO17 Series) line voltages, which control the speed of one-tenth to one horsepower single-phase AC induction motors. The availability of the "-002 option" will provide original equipment manufacturers' (OEM) design engineers with an expanded range of remote interface and control options to the ability to choose the hardware and firmware options they desire to optimize system performance and minimize controller cost. Expanding on Anacon's existing DigiDrive product offering, these controllers provide users with significant energy savings, performance enhancement, increased reliability and extended motor life. Applications include air handling; fan and blower control; and pumps and compressors in the residential and commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) sector. All DigiDrive products use Anacon Systems' proprietary microcontroller and software algorithms and include analog, digital and power electronics. The solutions easily and conveniently integrate into new and existing designs resulting in higher energy efficiency, lower conversion costs, less conversion time, lower total design costs, enhanced performance and extended motor life. The customized capabilities of the motor control through firmware modifications and hardware selections result in faster time-to-market and lower cost of ownership. These modular assembled controllers are uniquely designed by Anacon Systems to provide hardware and firmware application-specific solutions that will appeal to designers of small, medium, and large OEMs. The DigiDrive II - NETWORK INTERFACE allows OEM designers to connect our DigiDrive II units into a system control that will allow remote access and control through a MODBUS (RS485) network or through an IrDA - Infrared remote controller. The -002 option requires hardware and software modifications to the standard DigiDrive II units and comes with an "interface card" that translates the standard I/O inot the I/O of the EVO card. Any additional EVO generated interface units can, likewise, interface with the new -002 option products. The Network Interface option provides the following key features and user benefits:
"The agency-approved DigiDrive II - NETWORK will provide our customers flexible-configurability and modular hardware along with network capabilities that will proliferate the low cost, custom motor control platform we are striving to offer," said Howard Abramowitz, Vice President of Business Development for Anacon Systems. "In addition to the already mushrooming market of factory automation, the networking of homes are projected to explode and Anacon Systems motor controls expect to play a prominent role in fans, blowers, pumps and compressors that are found throughout these homes."
