ANACON SYSTEMS INTRODUCES
Low Power, Low Cost, Solutions Provide OEM Design Engineers a Compact-size Controller for Cost Sensitive Applications that can Benefit from Variable Speed Control Atlanta, Georgia January 29, 2001 - Today, at the Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration (AHR) Conference, Anacon Systems introduced its DigiDriveTM LP family of new, low power motor controllers, operating from 115 Volt (SO164 Series), 230 Volt (SO174 Series) and 277 Volt (SO184 Series) line voltages, which control the speed of one-third horsepower and below single-phase induction motors. Its availability will provide original equipment manufacturers' (OEM) design engineers with the ability to choose the hardware and firmware options they desire to optimize system performance and minimize controller cost. Expanding on Anacon's existing DigiDriveTM product offering, these controllers provide users with a new, compact size control which targets cost sensitive products that can benefit from variable speed control. In addition, significant energy savings and performance improvement are realized. Applications include air handling, fan and blower control, as well as pumps and compressors in the residential and commercial heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) sector. DigiDriveTM LP products use Anacon Systems' new AS901 microcontroller and software algorithms and include analog, digital and power electronics. The solutions easily and conveniently integrate into new and existing designs resulting in higher energy efficiency, lower conversion costs and time, lower total design costs, enhanced performance and extended motor life. The customized capabilities of the motor control, through factory implemented parameter modifications and hardware selections, result in faster time-to-market and lower cost of ownership. The DigiDriveTM LP series of motor controllers are a low-cost, low-power board level solution that offers the OEM customer the ability to specify only the features and options needed; optimizing the performance of the system while minimizing the system cost. Built on a common hardware platform, these controllers provide a cost-effective solution even at nominal. The options available range from input (115, 230 or 277volt) to output V/f curve shape, selectable protection features and EMC filter options. The 4" x 4" outline allows for easy mounting of this controller into a standard electrical conduit box (4.5" x 4.5") or similar enclosure. "The low power addition to the DigiDrive family continues our company effort to provide low-cost, variable speed control for single-phase motors. Anacon Systems is dedicated to providing solutions that allow OEM's the ability to integrate variable-speed control in applications that have traditionally found this feature cost prohibitive." Said Tim Perfetto, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Anacon Systems. "The selectable options give the OEM the benefit of variable speed control for numerous applications without the traditional customization fees". Applications
