ANACON SYSTEMS ENHANCED
DigiDriveTM LP
SINGLE-BOARD LOW POWER CONTROLLERS WITH
3 NEW ADAPTER CARDS

New Adapter CardsOffer Added Features to the Low Power, Low Cost, Compact-size Controller used in Cost Sensitive Applications that Benefit from Variable Speed Control.

Atlantic City, New Jersey - January 14, 2002   Today, at the Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration (AHR) Exposition, Anacon Systems announced Adapter Card capabilities for its DigiDrive LP. DigiDrive LP is a family of low power motor controllers, which control the speed of Single-Phase Induction Motors of 1/3 horsepower and below. Three configurable Adapter Cards [options -021 (RTD interface), -022 (Dual speed Interface) and -023 (IrDA interface)] offer original equipment manufacturers (OEM's) added features previously unavailable with the low cost DigiDrive LP platform. Expanding on Anacon's existing DigiDrive LP product offerings, these Adapter Cards provide specific control interfaces for cost sensitive products. Applications include air handling, fan and blower control, as well as small pumps for the residential and commercial Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) sector.

DigiDrive LP products use Anacon Systems' new AS901 microcontroller and software algorithms and include analog, digital and power electronics. The DigiDrive LP features a low-cost, low-power board level solution. It optimizes the performance of the system while minimizing the system cost. The units are built on a common hardware platform, so they provide a cost-effective solution. Models of discrete input voltages (115V, 230V or 277V) are available. DigiDrive LP solutions provide higher energy efficiency, low integration costs, enhanced performance and extended motor life.

The DigiDrive LP Adapter Cards offer the following:

  • Option - 021, RTD Interface - Resistance Temperature Device (RTD) allows for external temperature control of the speed. If the temperature falls below a given set point, the speed is decreased to compensate. Ideal for conveyer belt speed control on ovens, where temperature is a factor for proper food preparation and presentation.
  • Option - 022, Dual Speed Interface - Allows selection of two preset speeds and an idle speed by external control signals. When no input is provided the unit resorts to the preset idle speed.
  • Option - 023, IrDA Interface - Allows for infrared remote access and the ability to remotely adjust the performance of the drive from an IrDA source (i.e. Palm Organizer or Pocket Computer).

"The added features provided by the new Adapter Cards expand the scope of speed control application now addressable by the DigiDrive LP. Our company continues to lead the market in delivering low-cost, variable speed control for single-phase motors", said Howard Abramowitz, Executive Vice President of Operations and Business Development for Anacon Systems. "These new options give the OEM added critical performance while keeping the low cost platform of the DigiDrive LP intact".

Application

A few industries already utilizing DigiDrive LP in variable speed motor control applications, include:

  • HVAC, such as air distribution blowers, heaters, ventilation fans and circulator pumps
  • Cleanroom HEPA and ULPA air delivery systems
  • Convection and conveyorized convection ovens

Price and Delivery

Adapter Cards, as options to DigiDrive LP, add $20.00 to $32.00 per each in quantities of 100 units.

Samples of the DigiDrive LP + Adapter Card can be procured by calling 1-888-456-3398 Toll-free. Volume orders will be serviced beginning March 2002.
