From: Mr. Scott Little (Austin, TX) Date: Octobor 29, 2002 -------------------------------------------------------- Greetings, I
just wanted to let you folks know what a nice little product your single-phase DigiDrive is.
I purchased my unit this morning from Sande Day Jones at the Bee Cave Rd office and installed
it this afternoon and....it works great.
This picture shows the welding area in my new home shop and you can see the exhaust fan way up high on the wall. I show this picture so you can see how high off the ground the fan and it's nearby electrical outlet is....where I have daringly located the fully exposed DigiDrive unit. In
this closer photo, you can see the DigiDrive mounted to the wall just under the dedicated switched
outlet for the fan. In the lower left corner of this photo you can see a little cast Al box mounted to
the underside of one of the shelves. This box contains my 10k speed control pot.
The fan is a Grainger's 1/3 hp 30" fan that really makes a terrific roar when running at full speed. However, it is very quiet when running at half speed and it still moves a lot of air. I tried using a Variac to make it run slower and, while that DID reduce the speed, it resulted in objectionable overheating of the motor when running at ~1/2 speed. My DigiDrive installation worked perfectly the first time I tried it. The manual was pretty clear and the wiring diagram was perfectly clear. I particularly like the way the unit starts the fan up when I leave the speed pot at, say, half speed and then switch power onto the unit. In short, I am very pleased with this product. Good luck! |
